Two (or Cru) is usually better than one... a fact not lost on the Reggae-inflected rave razers Run Tingz Cru. A pair of hugely passionate individuals, combining two of bass music's best loved and most vibrant genres, the Bristol based duo of Ed Garrett (G.Tactix) and Alex Parker (LXP) have been relentlessly pushing their own unique blend of Reggae, Drum & Bass and Jungle since the launch of their eponymous record label back in 2010.
While Jungle remixes of Reggae or Dancehall tunes are certainly nothing new, the Run Tingz Cru have found their own unique niche by actively working with a host of both legendary and breaking Reggae vocalists to produce completely original, vocal-led tracks without a shoddy acappela or dodgy sample in sight! Topcat, Tenor Fly and David Boomah are just some of the stellar names to have worked with the Cru over the last three years, combining with the regular camp members Blackout J.A and YT and to deliver infectious, unshakable vocal licks and ultra-tight chatter to the Run Tingz Cru's Jungle inspired, dancefloor destroying beats and bass.
Mentored by the mighty Serial Killaz, who are well known for their innumerable D&B remixes of Jungle classics and hugely respected for their impeccable studio skills and production ethos, the Cru are committed to pushing themselves as far as possible as they continue to learn from the very best in the game. With the Cru's studio creations released through their own Run Tingz Recordings imprint and the newly formed Run Tingz Digital, tracks such as ‘Born Inna Babylon', ‘Murder Ya Sound', ‘It's a Junglist Ting' and ‘Hustler' have driven the Run Tingz Cru to the top of the D&B charts, winning them rave reviews in the music press and radio support from BBC Introducing, Radio 1 and Kiss FM.
2013 is set to be their biggest year yet, their last single, a remix of Capitol 1212's iconic ‘Don Man Sound', has been smashing the Drum & Bass charts and receiving support from internationally renowned artists such as Aphrodite, Kenny Ken, Culture Shock, Rudimental, The Freestylers and many many more. Their next release "My Sound" which features old school Jungle legend Cowboy Ras Ranger, is set to shatter sound systems around the planet and their up coming remix EP of YT's epic 3rd album "Revolution Time", a collaboration with their studio mentors the Serial Killaz, is already tipped to be one of the biggest projects to come out of the Jungle scene this year!
There is, however, far more to the Run Tingz Cru than massive tracks and a firing record label, as anyone that has witnessed their energy-packed club nights or crowd-churning stage shows will attest. Since their birth in 2010, the Cru have taken their unique performances to a whole host of the UK's best festivals including Glastonbury, Glade, Electric Picnic, Boomtown Fair and one of Europe's oldest Caribbean street party, Bristol's St Paul's Carnival. With a DJ and live show that stands heads above the average DnB DJ and MC combo, Boom Agency are very pleased to have secured their signatures and expect big things from the boys over the coming years.
